Illustration Friday: Packed

Published in: Illustration, Illustration Friday with 28 comments

The sky was ‘packed’ with beautifully bright stars!

This illustration is a continuation from last week’s series. I plan to make four of them with the same characters and colour scheme. I think they’d look great in a baby or child’s room! ;o) This one might be a bit tricky to colour as I don’t want it to come across too busy and confusing (it’s quite a full drawing)… but I think if I get the colours right, it’ll appear less busy. Same as last week – I’ll be posting the coloured version next Friday (or I’m hoping to!)! Let me know what you think.

What should this cute little group of friends get into for the next couple drawings? I’d love your suggestions! If you have any great ideas, post them here and you might see them come to life in the next few weeks!

Illustration Friday: Clique (and my finished illustration!)

Published in: Illustration, Illustration Friday, Portfolio with 31 comments

I know I’m kinda cheating by using the same illustration concept for two weeks of Illustration Friday but this week’s theme works so well for this! “The unlikely friends formed a clique that could never be broken!”

What do you think of the final version? I haven’t done many pieces with full colour backgrounds so it’s a bit different. I’ve also consciously not used any red in the image. I find red is such a powerful colour and I usually always use it in my work to really make my illustrations pop! I think when I hold back from using red, there is a softer and calmer feeling that I also really like. Click here to rate this illustration!

NEW Stamp Angel Policy!

Rachelle Anne Miller stamps, produced by STAMPAVIE now have an Angel Policy!

I hope that by doing this, it’ll allow many of you to continue creating beautiful cards and perhaps even earn a little extra cash on the side :o)

2. Any artwork created using Rachelle Anne Miller designs must not infringe third-party copyrighted material. The artist must accept full responsibility for his or her artwork.

Illustration Friday: Island

Published in: Illustration, Illustration Friday with 31 comments

This piece is going be titled ‘Unlikely Friends’! I think I’m going to do a series of them: The Adventures Penguin, Dinosaur, Bird, Monkey, and Teddy! lol

I didn’t get a chance to colour this today but I thought I’d post it anyway because I get a lot of requests to post my work ‘in progress’. Most of my work is situated on a white background but for this series, I’m going all out with colour! I want to practice doing full colour backgrounds as I think it’s important to be versatile in my work. I hope to have this one coloured for this time next week :o)

Let me know what you think of it!

Illustration Friday: Clutter

Published in: Illustration, Illustration Friday, Portfolio with 30 comments

Amy’s mom thought the fall leaves cluttered the front lawn, but Amy loved the beautiful colours and danced in the bright piles of foliage! Click here to rate this illustration.

I absolutely LOVE the fall – it’s my favorite time of year. It’s such a beautiful, fresh, and crisp time of year. I love the changing leaves, the fresh harvests, the refreshing crisp air, snuggling in cozy sweaters, baking delicious apple pies, and taking scenic drives through the country… and I love the anticipation of Christmas to come! I also find it a lot easier to concentrate on work once the weather cools down :o)

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
