Winter for IF

Published in: Holidays, Illustration, Illustration Friday, Personal, Stamps, Store with 1 comment

This will be my last post for 2010! Wow, the year flew by.. but it’s been a great one. I swear time goes by twice as fast when you have kids :) I’m looking forward to all the wonderful things that next year holds, including the birth of our beautiful son sometime in March or April! I’m not really one to set specific new year’s goals. I always have goals in my head and always desire to move forward in every area of my life. I prefer to set more general goals such as continuing to develop as a mom and wife, always striving to move ahead with my illustration career, and to continue to grow personally.

This week’s Illustration Friday theme is ‘winter’. Well we are definitely in the thick of it! It’s freezing outside, there is snow everywhere, and the fire is often on in our home :) This week’s submission is actually a stamp design I created for Paperworks Co. If you’re interested, you can buy it (or the full winter/Christmas collection) over at the Paperworks Co store.

I want to thank everyone for following my blog and supporting my work! It’s been an awesome year :) Happy New Year to you all!!

Custom Mural for a Nursery

Published in: Custom Work, Illustration, Mural with 1 comment

The only mural I’ve actually painted was my bedroom wall when I was 16! (If that even counts). Can’t really believe my mom let me do it, but I think it’s her encouragement of my art that got me where I am today!

My friend asked me to somehow work with him to create a jungle themed mural for his baby girl’s nursery. The baby is due the same time as my little guy :) Seeing as my friend lives in Nova Scotia, doing an actual mural isn’t exactly possible. We decided that creating a large 3×8 foot illustration would be the next best thing! They are planning on getting a large print made and then placing a custom frame around it. I’m excited to see how the final print comes out! They’ll be sending me photos of the completed nursery :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and all the best for the New Year!

Letter to Santa for IF

Published in: Holidays, Illustration, Illustration Friday with 9 comments

‘Mail’ is the theme for this week’s Illustration Friday. My schedule has cleared up a bit just in time for the holidays so I thought I’d have some fun and do a new drawing for this week :) These cute little forest creatures are working together to get their letter to Santa just in time for Christmas!

Christmas shopping is ALMOST done and we are relaxing and enjoying this festive time of year. As much as I’m trying to teach Isaac the real meaning of Christmas, he thinks Christmas means PRESENTS! We cheated and gave him his big gift early because we wanted him to enjoy it separately from the many other gifts for him! If you remember my post a couple months ago, we got him the Plan Toys Chalet. He loves it! He’s a very creative thinker and loves to make up stories and play with characters. This chalet is right up his alley!

If I don’t post again before Christmas, I want to wish you all a relaxing, meaningful, and happy day spent with family and friends! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Custom Croquis for Pixie Purls

Published in: Custom Work, Illustration with 0 comments

I have to admit that I didn’t know what the word croquis meant before being approached by Brandy from Pixie Purls! Croquis are figure drawings that clothing designers use to template their fashions on. Brandy designs GORGEOUS knitwear for babies and kids. You have to check out her website to see what I’m talking about!

Brandy asked me to illustrate two croquis. One of a doll and one of a 6 year old girl. She is planning on creating matching outfits for girls and dolls and she wanted a professional way to display her designs. Brandy was great to work with and this was a very fun and unique project!

Woodland Nursery

Published in: Inspiration, Interior Design, Link, Personal, Woodland Nursery with 23 comments

Most of you that follow my blog know that I am expecting another baby boy in March next year. My belly is getting big and we are getting very excited! And I think Isaac has finally decided that the baby is in mommy’s belly and not his! I’m at the 25 week mark now so I definitely feel pregnant! As soon as I found out the baby’s gender, I started the nursery design. I LOVE decorating kids rooms! I posted about Isaac’s new room a few months ago. He’s now officially in a big boy bed and doing really well. The kid hasn’t left his bed ONCE since being in it for over 2 weeks. He actually still calls for us in the morning to get him out of bed. I’m guessing this might pass, but for now, I’m happy the transition has been so smooth.

With the help of many artisans on Etsy, I’ve designed/decorated the room just how I’d imagined. I might add a few finishing touches here and there, but I’m overall very satisfied with the look. I’ve posted some photos of the items I purchased on Etsy so I’ll also include the links to each store below. I’d love to hear what you think of baby #2′s new room! And while you’re at it, feel free to send some name suggestions! lol We are having trouble deciding on a name for our new little bundle :)
