After months of hard work, I finally got my hands on the new book I illustrated! I was sooooo excited when I first opened the package. There were five shiny copies waiting to be cracked open. Isaac tried to help me but I quickly removed the package from his tiny hands in order to save those delicate paper pages (only board books for this kid right now!). I am so pleased with the quality of the book and the overall design. I sent off the illustrations to the art director without really knowing how they were planning on designing the interior. What a beautiful result!
For those of you who don’t know, the book I recently illustrated is God’s Promises for Girls by Jack Countryman and Amy Parker. It’s a wonderful and encouraging book for little girls that offers practical support and Bible verses to help them through their daily lives. You can now purchase this book in the US but I think Canada has to wait until the end of the month.
SO very happy right now! :)

For the past few months I’ve been working with Thomas Nelson Publishers to illustrate the beautifully written book entitled, ‘God’s Promises for Girls’ by Jack Countryman and Amy Parker. The book offers words of encouragement to little girls who are tackling their way through this big world.
“The promise verses in this book are selected from the best-selling International Children’s Bible® to offer comfort and encouragement when a girl is feeling afraid, lonely, worried, angry, dissatisfied, discouraged, sad, rebellious, impatient, or sick . . . and when they need reassurance of God’s protection, love, forgiveness, help . . . and that He listens when they pray. It’s a great way for children to hide God’s Word in their hearts.” – Thomas Nelson Publishers
I really enjoyed working on this book and am very excited to see the final product. It will be released in stores on April 21, 2010 but if you’re interested, you can preorder today at Amazon
. I’ve posted the cover image and an interior image, but you can also view a few more interior images in my online portfolio.
The day this project wrapped up, I was contacted to start working on a brand new book! I absolutely love this niche in children’s illustration and am excited about all the new opportunities. The new book is a sweet bedtime story that tells of the love between a mother and child. I will keep you posted on the progress :)
Hope you all have a great week ahead!
