Illustration Friday: Pattern

Published in: Illustration, Illustration Friday with 13 comments

I like to use patterns in a lot of my work. In this illustration, I’ve added a polka dot pattern to the little boy’s bear costume. This illustration was done for a church halloween event. Let me know what you think!

I’m still trying to decide what Isaac should be for Halloween! It’s the day before his birthday so I’ll be busy preparing for his party but still want to dress him up in something cute – I was thinking he’d make a cute dragon or dinosaur because he often makes funny growling sounds!

Illustration Friday: Pale

Published in: Design, Illustration, Illustration Friday, Portfolio with 28 comments

In this bitterly cold winter, I’m really missing the pale, pretty colours of spring! Click here to rate this illustration.

It’s great to get back to illustrating! This illustration was just for fun but lately I’ve been working on updating my portfolio. I have a lot of one-off illustrations that work well for products, greeting cards, or prints but I’m really interested in getting into children’s book illustration. I’ve decided to start working on some book layouts to add to my portfolio in order to branch off into this area!

I’ve decided to illustrate a few spreads in the book, ‘Guess How Much I Love You’ by Sam McBratney. It’s one of my favorite children’s books so I thought it’d be fun to do. I’ve just started some character development sketches so I’ll be posting those once my characters are established. Then I’ll work on the page layouts and start my sketches. I’ll keep you posted on my progress. Have a great weekend!

This might be the last post you hear from me until I have my little one! He’s due Nov 5th so I’m starting to get very excited – I’m hoping my next post includes a photo of our new family – I’ll keep you posted! :o) Have a great weekend!
