Inspiration: Claudia Degliuomini

This week’s Illustration Friday topic is Fail. Well, even though I was wwaaaaayyy too busy to complete the topic this weekend, I figure it works for me anyway - I ‘failed‘ to complete it. Does that work as my submission? Hehe ;o) I promise I’ll be back on my toes next week!

In the meantime, I really wanted to post another inspirational artist. Claudio Degliuomini is an incredible illustrator from Argentina. Her work is very unique, whimsical, fun, and colorful. I love the way she’s developed her animal characters. Her compositions are wonderful and I adore her beautiful aesthetic! I just wanted to share her with anyone that hasn’t already been exposed to her incredible work. I’ve added some of her illustrations below, but you can also visit her blog or website to view more of her work!

My New Partnership with STAMPAVIE!

This is such exciting news! STAMPAVIE has offered me a contract to work exclusively with them for all my future stamp designs.

I started this blog in November 2007 as a creative outlet and to meet other artists. The result of this blog has been beyond any of my expectations. Soon after making a few posts, I was approached by several stamp companies to start turning my illustrations into stamps. To be honest, when I first received these requests, I had no idea how big the stamping world really was - there are SO many of you out there! I didn’t know much at all, but I was happy to dive in - I’m always up for a new creative endeavor! The stamps ended up doing so well - thanks to all of you! I’m very flattered that you all like my work! It’s been so re-assuring to get all this positive feedback :o)

That brings us to today’s announcement. Over the past couple months, I’ve been working with several different stamp companies, but I truly believe it makes the most sense to centralize all my work with one company. This will give me more time to concentrate on the quality of ideas I create! By dedicating all my efforts to one company, I’ll have more time to create the cutest, most fun, and unique designs!

This move will also help eliminate any confusion on where to buy my stamps. All my new designs will now be available for wholesale purchase at STAMPAVIE (so you’ll hopefully end up seeing them in your favorite stamp stores soon after they’re released) and for retail purchase at Stamp-and-Scrap.com. STAMPAVIE ships stamps worldwide and any stamp store (online or brick & mortar) can carry my stamps. If you are a fan and want your favorite store to carry my collections, please send them a link to www.stampavie.com!

Anyway! I hope I haven’t bored you with my little announcement! It’s just very exciting for me to become more and more established as a stamp designer! I love seeing all the wonderful art you make with my designs. I’m also extremely open to your suggestions for my future collections. I’d love to hear what you’d like me to design. Animals? Bugs? Decorative elements? Cute kids? Babies? Flowers? I really appreciate all your comments and hope to keep you all very involved on my journey as a designer at STAMPAVIE.

Look forward to hearing all your feedback!

Free Blog Headers from Smashing Magazine!

I’ve received a number of requests from bloggers over the past couple months to use one of my illustrations in their blog header. As much as I’m flattered by their requests, I’ve had to turn them down. The reason I’ve had to turn them down is to do with copyright issues - isn’t that always the issue? ;) The problem is, if I ever sell the rights to any particular image, I won’t have the authority over that image anymore - meaning that everyone I gave permission to use that image - I’ll have to track down to remove it. I’ve promised many of these bloggers that I’ll design some headers especially for them… but until then, I’ve found an incredible resource!

Smashing Magazine has just posted some awesome blog headers for FREE. Some of these headers are absolutely gorgeous and have been created by designers from around the world. Click here to visit their site and browse through these beautiful creations!

And stay tuned - I will hopefully have some Rachelle Anne Miller headers in the works very soon ;)

My Store is Officially Open!

I’m so happy to announce that my online store is now officially open for business! I am currently selling 7 prints through ImageKind. I decided to sell through ImageKind because each print is printed with archival inks on archival paper. These prints will last upwards of 100 years. It’s important to me that each print is of top quality and this seemed like the best way to do it! ImageKind also takes great care in their shipping and will send you a new print for free if any damage occurs during transit. They also offer framing and matting which you can preview right on the site. I have set up my prints with the frame and mat that I recommend but you can also choose your own in order to compliment your personal home decor. If you don’t want the frame, you can buy the print on its own. There are a variety of sizes and paper types to choose from. All the necessary details are linked from my store.

I am SOOO excited to finally have some of my prints available for sale! My next task is greeting cards. I am sourcing a printer and high quality paper right now and will keep you posted when my cards will be available. Stay tuned!

Inspiration: Moulin Roty

My mom called from Australia yesterday and raved about the cutest mother and baby bunny she saw at the store. She was dying to buy them for me (since I have a serious obsession with ridiculously cute stuffed animals) but they were rather pricey and she wasn’t sure she could justify spending $100 on ‘toys’ for her 23 year-old daughter ;)

I searched the name of the company and stumbled upon a world of precious delights! I am so happy I found this site. I imagine if I ever decided to design stuffed animals - they would look just like these!

“Three little caterpillars, eternally gleeful with their rosy cheeks surrounded by their cheery pals. Gorgeous little dolls in sweet colours. A gentle and poetic imaginary world…” (Quote from Website) There are also tons of lovely illustrations on the site as well. The company also sells beautiful baby room furniture. You can access their catalog here (you’ll have to fill in some details to view it).

If anyone knows any Canadian retailers, I’d love to hear from you!

I’m going to start making some more frequent ‘inspiration’ posts. I wanted to set a particular day of the week to do this, but I’d hate to miss a day because of my busy schedule. I think I’ll just post inspirational links as they come :)
