My baby turns 2 today!
A lot has happened in these past two years and all of a sudden I look at you and you’re a little boy. You are too sweet for words, clever, funny, and quite cheeky when you want to be! You have such a great personality and I know you will be well loved in this world. You love animals, especially dogs. Daddy doesn’t know this but I’m thinking we might just have to get you a puppy for your birthday one of these years! You are certainly a boy’s boy as you love to play with trucks, pirates, and love to get dirty. But you have a wonderfully soft side where you just want to be held and snuggle with your mommy :) I didn’t think it was possible but you are actually a pickier eater than your brother! You love your meat and carbs but rarely want to touch any fruits or veggies. You are the reason I spend about a half hour every morning making fresh juice so you can get all those important vitamins! You are stubborn and independent and want to be just like your brother. Each day, when we drop him off at school, you tell me you miss him and want to go back to get him. I love that you look up to him so much. He is a great big brother! One of my biggest prayers is that you two are the best of friends and are always there for each other. It’s a big world out there, and to have a loving brother to support you, is priceless.
We love you so much and are so happy that you are a part of our family. I am so excited to watch you grow and interact with your world. You are wonderfully loved!
Happy 2nd birthday.

My 2 year old loves animals more than any child I’ve met! Bears, dogs, and chicks are among his favorite but any animal will get this kid’s attention. Lately he has been really interested in mommies and babies. Anything small is a baby and big is a mommy. He is my inspiration behind this series. I think this would be very cute in his room beside his dresser. He is such a sweet and cuddly boy, each one of these images reminds me of snuggling with him at bedtime. If you’re interested, I’m selling these sketches as a series on 3×5 kraft stock in my Etsy store. I’d love to hear what you think :)

Most of you that read my blog regularly know that my family and I have recently moved from Canada to Australia. We’ve been here for 6 months and are really enjoying this fine country. We’ve spent a lot of time visiting family, touring around Adelaide, and traveling up the coast. There have certainly been many ups and downs in terms of settling into a new country but we all the better for it. We have grown as a family and learned so much about ourselves. Moving overseas with two young boys was no easy task.
Can you believe we’re crazy enough to do it again?!
Yes, you read that correctly. Overseas move #2 is on the agenda for the Millers! We are returning to Canada! We truly love a lot of things about Australia…it’s an amazing country and we have a lot of family here. The decision to return to Canada has probably been one of the most difficult decisions we’ve had to make. Without writing a novel on why we’re deciding to return, we mostly feel that Canada is the place we want to raise our kids.
I’ll be in planning mode for the next couple months and will be shipping my drawing supplies, once again, across the world so there may not be a ton of new art over the next little while. We’ve had a busy couple years! I’m looking forward to settling in to our new home in Ottawa and seeing all our wonderful family and friends once again :)

Yes I’m still here :) It’s been about two months since we’ve landed in Australia and things are going very well. We have a beautiful home in a wonderful neighbourhood! Having said that, we are still waiting for our container full of furniture to arrive so the house is pretty bare. It’s going to feel like Christmas once it all arrives! The boys have been living off one small suitcase of toys for two months and I think they’re more than ready to have all their favorite things back!
I haven’t been doing much art in the last couple months as all of my drawing equipment is in the container. It’s actually been a good break and it’s given me a chance to focus on the move and settling into our new life in this beautiful new country! I have, however, been able to do a bit of design work with some of my previously completed pieces. Attached below is some licensing material to coordinate with my new alphabet series – would love some feedback!
I’ll try to be back on here soon with more updates :)

We’re officially in July and that means we’re officially in countdown mode to our big move to Australia! We leave at the end of the month so this whole month will be all about tying up all the loose ends and finalizing moving details.
My last couple weeks have been filled with goodbye dinners/bbqs with wonderful friends that I will truly miss. Not only will I be leaving behind some really wonderful people, my kids will be too. It’s hard to understand how they will feel to leave their friends at such a young age but I can only hope that we can create some new great friendships ‘down under’!
My really good friend Melissa wanted to take some final family photos of us before we left. She has captured many other moments in our life that you can see on her blog, Melissa Kew Photography. We were lucky to plan this photo shoot for when my mother-in-law was visiting so we could capture a few great moments with her before we leave Canada. I thought these would be nice to share!
Oh and that new alphabet series I’ve been working on… I’m on letter ‘Z’! Almost there! I’ll be posting the rest of them very very soon :)
