My little guy just turned 6 months and Isaac just completed his first couple weeks of preschool – where does the time go? I’ll tell you where it goes – into cleaning, playing, napping, cooking, grocery shopping, potty training, teaching, and maybe some more playing – all the things you do when you’re a busy mom of two! I am so content and happy with my life as a mom but my mind does sometime wander to the time when both my little ones will be in school and I’ll be back to working full time. Oh the things I could accomplish in a day! I have a long list of things I’d like to do with my business but between all the playing and cleaning, I just never seem to find the time. This is the reason you’ll only find my on my blog every 1-2 weeks. But don’t fret, I will never abandon it completely ;)

In the time that I did have to work this past week, I’ve redesigned some art prints that have just been released in my Etsy store. You can choose from the pink or blue colour scheme and even choose to have your little one’s name on the print itself :) Let me know what you think!

Canvas Art Now Available

Canvas prints are so perfect and EASY for decorating your child’s bedroom! There is no hassle to buy a frame as it’s ready to hang as soon as you receive it. CC Art Children’s Decor is a new company that has asked to produce canvas prints of some of my top selling art. They have recently launched their website and you can check out my work, along with other Canadian artists here!

They sent me samples of the canvases a few months ago which was very exciting! The photo I’ve included here is of the animal alphabet canvas which is happily hanging in our playroom. The canvas is HUGE (36 x 36″) and makes a great statement piece, but you can also order it in a smaller size if you want something more understated ;) The quality of the printing and canvas are both top notch. Illustration Friday: Influence

The weather can often influence your mood!

This illustration works well for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of ‘influence’. This piece is a lot moodier than my typical work but I really enjoyed the change of pace. I often create fun, bubbly, colourful art for children but it’s interesting to somewhat deviate and create something a bit different. My style is still very evident here but the colour palette and subject matter stray slightly.

I’d like to work on more illustrations like this – ones that might appeal to a different audience (not just children). This also reminds me of how much I miss painting. I blogged about some abstract artwork I did several years ago and I’ve been itching to break out the paints again. Sometimes I just need to get off the computer and back into the wonderfully rich textures and colours of REAL paint!

I’ve just released new personalized artwork in my Etsy store! My top selling alphabet prints can now be personalized with your little one’s name. I am selling them at 13×16 but they can be printed in a smaller format if you send in a custom request. Enjoy!

Discover Books!

Something I wish we were doing more of lately is reading books to Isaac. We always read him two books at bedtime but I want to start immersing ourselves in books more during the day… and perhaps turning off the TV! With our playroom downstairs (and all his books down there too), we don’t see too much of them during the summer. We spend a lot of time outside and ignore our playroom on warm summer days. This isn’t a bad thing but I definitely miss reading with him! Today, I decided to bring a stack of them upstairs and create a mini library for him on our bookshelf. Isaac loves books so hopefully this will allow for us to read them more often!

This is a new illustration I’ve recently licensed to a client and I wanted to share it with you! Little ones love reading and I wanted to capture the essence of this!

The illustration has just been released in my Etsy store. I think it would make a lovely addition to any child’s reading corner, don’t you? :)

Here is a brand new illustration for Illustration Friday’s theme, Midsummer Night. My neighbour requested this illustration for her reading corner in her playroom – what a perfect idea! On a personal note, Elijah is getting big and integrating so perfectly into our family. Isaac loves him so much and I can’t wait until they get to an age where they can start playing together. I’ll be posting photos of them soon :)

Illustration Friday: The Kite was ‘Swept’ Away!

Here is this week’s submission for Illustration Friday. I’m enjoying experimenting with different colour palettes and backgrounds. I’ve fallen in love with the website www.colourlovers.com. I’m having fun browsing through the different colour palettes and opening my mind to new combos that I wouldn’t typically use.

Although this is a very girly print, we’re all boy in this house! I think my next illustration will be one for my boys ;) Speaking of my two little ones, I’m sooo happy to finally have my evenings back now that both kiddies are tucked in bed by 6:30pm. Yay for bedtime routines! I’m enjoying my free time and taking the chance to do what I love – draw!
