Illustration Friday: Clutter

Amy’s mom thought the fall leaves cluttered the front lawn, but Amy loved the beautiful colours and danced in the bright piles of foliage! Click here to rate this illustration.

I absolutely LOVE the fall - it’s my favorite time of year. It’s such a beautiful, fresh, and crisp time of year. I love the changing leaves, the fresh harvests, the refreshing crisp air, snuggling in cozy sweaters, baking delicious apple pies, and taking scenic drives through the country… and I love the anticipation of Christmas to come! I also find it a lot easier to concentrate on work once the weather cools down :o)

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

A Couple Awards and a Nursery Sneak Peak!

The countdown is on! Only two more months until my little boy is due :o) Along with keeping very busy with work, I’ve been steadily assembling his cute little nursery together! I LOVE decorating (especially for kids) so this is such a fun project for me. I’ve added some sneak peak photos of details in his room. I still don’t have everything together so no full room shots just yet. I found the cutest orange monkey from Pottery Barn Kids this past weekend and HAD to have him! Isn’t he the cutest?

I also want to thank Crystal Driedger and Chrissy Fanslau for awarding my blog! Even though I haven’t been the best at keeping up with regular posts, I’m so happy to know that people are still reading and enjoying my blog :o)

Thank you so much!

Yay!! I was able to find some time to participate in Illustration Friday! I’ve been so busy with design and other illustration work that when I get a chance to draw whatever I want - I can’t resist but draw my future little one :o) He’s my inspiration at the moment!

Our Little Photo Shoot

Unfortunately it’s been a while since I’ve posted a new illustration. I’m trying to take it easy with my work and take care of myself and the little one growing inside me. I’m buried in design/illustration work and trying to set up our house/nursery so I don’t want to push myself too hard to do too much extra work. Although having said that, I am dying to participate in Illustration Friday again - so I’m crossing my fingers I’ll have a bit of time this week!

I’ve been wanting to make my blog a bit more personal and post a few pictures of myself, the nursery (soon to come), etc, etc. My husband and I recently bought a Nikon D40 and wanted to take it for a test run today. I haven’t taken many belly shots so it was a great photo shoot to capture my growing belly! We drove out to these beautiful nature trails near our home and the weather was just perfect for the shoot. I think we took 250 photos in all! I’ve posted some of my favorites ones to share with you (and I threw in one of my cute hubby!). I can’t believe how big my belly is getting - it’s so funny to see it in photos :o)

Hope you are all doing well and are happily stamping, crafting, and drawing away - and that you’re soaking up these last few weeks of summer!

UPDATE: I added a couple photos because I just noticed I wasn’t really smiling in the first ones I posted (I’m being more reflective)! I am soooo happy to be becoming a mommy that I must have some smiling shots in there!!

Hope you’ve all had a great week. We have a long weekend here so I’m excited to take a few days off! It’s also our three year wedding anniversary today. We’re heading off to a lovely dinner tonight at a local ritzy Mediterranean restaurant. I’m really looking forward to having a fancy night out - I don’t think they’ll be too many more of those once our little bundle of joy arrives!

New Christmas Stamp Collection!

What do you do when you have to design Christmas stamps in July? Get in the Christmas spirit, of course! For the past month or so, I’ve been listening to Christmas music and drinking hot chocolate while designing my brand new Christmas stamp collection for STAMPAVIE.

I know it seems awfully early to start thinking about Christmas, but that’s how things work in the stamp world. A lot of stampers and crafters (many of you!) like to get a head start on their Christmas cards and crafts so we need to get our new designs out to stores asap :o) Personally, I LOVE Christmas and can’t complain about getting hit with a bit of festive cheer this time of year! Feel free to pop on over to STAMPAVIE to view the full collection.

Let me know which ones are your favs!

Illustration Friday: Enough

This is all I need! :o) Click here to rate this illustration.

I created this illustration for my little boy’s nursery room. I’ve had a couple people request I post my nursery illustrations for sale at my ImageKind store. So if you’re interested, you can purchase a print of this illustration here.

Once I get a few more things together in his room, I’ll post a few photos of what it looks like. It’s coming along so beautifully - I can’t wait to show you!

Inspiration: Gustavo Pinela

Funny how I thought I’d be posting so much more now that I don’t work at my full time job? Well I’m actually busier than ever! It’s definitely a good thing but I miss talking to all of you on my blog!! I love reading all your comments and visiting your blogs. But I can’t really say that I’m complaining that I have a lot of wonderful work :o) There isn’t much I can show you right now but in the next few months, I’m hoping to make some posts on what I’ve been up to!

I try my best to keep up with all my favorite blogs. One blog that I discovered not too long ago is Gustavo Pinela’s. He’s my inspiration pick for this week! I love reading his blog because it’s full of delightful illustrations. He has such a playful, fun, and emotional style that really catches my attention. He often posts about his process or projects he’s working on. He’s made all kinds of wonderful products with his illustrations - from mug designs to calendars - the guy has so much going for him! Take a few minutes to check out his amazing blog. It’s not in originally English but there is a translation option on the right side.

I’m hoping to be back with another submission for Illustration Friday this Friday! Hope you’re having a great week :o)
