Snow Friends by Mona

Hi friends! I can’t believe Christmas is less than two weeks away! Today I am sharing another holiday card inspiration using Rachelle Anne Miller’s Snow Friends digital stamp. Isn’t this image so sweet?

Sizing and Printing

I started by sizing the image to fit the largest circle die from Mama Elephant’s Stacked Circle dies. This die set has a large scallop shape and various stitched circle dies. I’ve had this die for a while and thought it would be perfect for the card design I had in mind! I printed the image twice, once on Neenah Solar White cardstock and again on masking paper.

Ink Blending the Background

I arranged the circle die around the image and ran everything through my die-cutting machine. Then, I fussy cut the image out of the masking paper. I covered the image on the circle and blended Distress Oxide ink over it to create a background. I used Blueprint Sketch towards the top, Peacock feathers in the middle, and Tumbled Glass towards the bottom. Then, I splattered white acrylic paint over the background to create snow.

Coloring the Image

I removed the masking paper and started coloring the image with the following Copic markers:

Snowman: B0000, R20, R00, YR04, YR01
Hat/Scarf: RV17, RV14, RV13
Bird: BG13, BG11, BG10, Y13
Bunny: W3, W1, W0, W00

Adding the Sentiment

I stamped a sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh Holiday Signs stamp set to the side of the image with versamark ink. I sprinkled white embossing powder over the stamped sentiment and heat-set it.

Creating the Card Base and Finishing Card

I wanted the card to have some dimension, so I put foam tape on the back of the finished panel. Then, I placed the scalloped-shaped die over white card stock and ran everything through my die-cutting machine. I repeated this process on thicker cardstock, scored a line about 1/4″ from the side, and glued this edge to the other scalloped piece to create a card base. Next, I adhered the card panel on top. I finished the card by adding some Pretty Pink Posh Starry Sky Mix jewels.
