Bee Mine by Jayne

Hi friends, Happy New Year! I hope you are well and have enjoyed the holidays. I can’t believe how fast the year moves – we still have our Christmas tree up at home and this week, I’ve been busy making Valentines cards! RAM Stamps has a very sweet new release today, and I’m sharing some inspiration with the Bee Mine image from the release.

One of the things that I love about the release is that a lot of the images are quite quick and simple to colour, and so you can pull together a card in no time. I coloured my image using Copic markers:

Bees: Y38, Y15 and Y11 for the yellows, 100, C9, C8 and C6 for the black/greys

Flower: G24, G21, G20 (greens), RV13, RV11 (pinks), YR24, Y38, Y15 (yellows), E09, YR27 (dots inside the flower).

As always, I added highlights with my trusty white gel pen (I have been through many gel pens in my time, and this one is consistently the best, as I find others can get clogged up or not go down evenly).

I fussy cut the image with my precision scissors and set aside for now.

For the background, I used Clearly Besotted’s Six a Side stencil. I ink blended some soft warm shades of distress oxide – spun sugar, dried marigold and squeezed lemonade – using my blender brushes. I then added my bees and flower over the top with foam squares. I glued the hearts directly to the background with liquid glue as they were too small for foam tape!

Finally, for the sentiment, I used a Clearly Besotted set called Spelling Bee, and stamped it in Versamark Onyx black ink (I always use my MISTI so I can stamp twice in the same place and get a good, clear sentiment). To finish, I added a few sequins and gems from a mix by Lucy’s Cards called Tiara.

Thanks for joining me again, and I hope to see you soon!
