Hi everyone! Do you ever have the feeling your card is missing something? Or the background is too empty? I have found that embellishments can be the perfect finishing touch to remediate this. In the card I’m sharing today, I’m showing you how you can use embellishments to take your card to the next level.
As we have a super adorable new release at Rachelle Anne Miller, I chose to feature one of the new digital stamps, called Party Girl. In total, the new release contains 4 new digi stamps, which you can also buy as a set. Plus there is also a new wedding scene creator! The new release will be available on Thursday February 17th 2022.
For this card, I first printed the Party Girl digital stamp on Perfect Colouring paper. After that, I colored the image with my Copic markers.
- Skin: E04, E13, E11, E00, E000
- Hair: E35, E55, E53, YR20, YR000
- Pinks: R85, R83, R81, R000
- Greens: G24, G21, G20
- Yellows: E41, Y000, Y11, Y13
- Cat: E43, E42, E41, E50
After die cutting the scene with a rectangle die, I stamped the sentiment underneath the image. The sentiment is from the Flying High stamp set from Hello Bluebird. I really love the writing of their sentiments and feel the style goes perfect with the Rachelle Anne Miller digital stamps.
On the cardbase, I adhered Lemon Chiffon cardstock from MFT (unfortunately now retired), which I die cut with the Blanket Stitch die from Pinkfresh Studio. On top of that I adhered the colored scene.
Now we get to the part of the embellishments. For this image I did not feel like ink blending the background, or coloring a background scene. So I looked in my stash for sequins I had, which matched nicely with the colors I used in the card. So I ended up with Pollen, Ballerina, and green sequins from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.
As you can see from the photo, I chose various sizes to work with, which gives it a playful look. When placing the sequins, I made sure the colors and sizes had a nice distribution on the card. So you’ll notice there is no sequins next to each other with the same color, or size. Another thing you want to pay attention to when placing sequins, is that they are not in the same line or height as each other. They are all in some way offset from one another, which is more pleasing to the eye.
When you find placing sequins difficult, try different compositions and take pictures of it. Then look at the pictures and see what you find more pleasing to look at. This is also what I tend to do when I’m struggling. For some reason, I sometimes find it easier to judge something from a picture, then in real life.
When I was happy with the placement of the sequins, I committed and glued them down with Glossy Accents. I think the playful placement of the sequins fits really well with this Party Girl from Rachelle Anne Miller.
