Hi everyone! Today I have another holiday card inspiration featuring a newly released stamp by Rachelle Anne Miller called Koala Christmas Tree. I fell in love with this beautiful stamp when I saw it and knew I wanted to make a shaker card with it.
Printing and Cutting
I sized the image to fit within the Mama Elephant’s In The Clouds die. Next, I had to adjust the size to ensure it would fit inside the die’s opening. I find the easiest way to do this is to use inexpensive copy paper to print out the image. This way, I can adjust the size to ensure it will fit whatever die I use before printing it out on the more expensive card stock. Once I was happy with the size, I printed it out onto Neenah Solar White card stock with my laser printer. Next, I used my Brother Scan-N-Cut to cut the image. The Brother Scan-N-Cut only cut the outside of this image, so I used a craft knife to cut out the inside details.
Coloring
I colored the image with the following Copic markers:
Tree trunk and branches: E43, E42, E41
Koala: W7, W5, W3, W1, W0, W00, R20, R00
Red: R59, R29, R27
Green: YG67, YG63, YG61
When I was done coloring, I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Simply White to create dimensional ornaments over the wreath.
Creating Background & Assembling Shaker
I stamped a sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh’s Christmas Friends stamp on the bottom right of the card panel. Next, I created the background for my shaker card by cutting out a piece of card stock which was 4.25 x 5.5″. Then, I blended Distress Oxide in Salvaged Patina over Lawn Fawn’s Cloud stencil to create a sky background. I glued acetate over the opening of the card panel, put foam tape on the back, and added sequins, seed beads, and confetti. Then, I sealed the card with my background to finish the shaker card. I finished the card by gluing the card panel onto a top folding card base.
